Bank House Wine Bar and Kitchen

Right in the centre of the High Street, a relative new comer to BR7, Bank House has brought with it new ways for working towards sustainability.  There is a lot more to this Bar and Kitchen than just fantastic food and wine….

Did you know that Bank House use a high tech sustainable wine tap system which uses “Key Kegs” to serve the product which is a handmade artisan product for both wine and beer. Biodynamic and organic wines, then craft beers from south east England. The Key Kegs reduce transport, bottling and bottle production and are themselves recyclable.

Bank House also provide guests (at no cost) local filtered water, sparkling and still in glass bottles that can be washed on site and reused, thus reducing the water bottling transportation and plastic usage. When it comes to glass recycling the team use a glass crusher called ‘baby jaws’ to reduce glass collection transports and reduce noise pollution locally.

One thing you may have noticed is that daily menus are recycled and made into place mats for glasses, thus reducing further unnecessary production.  Used and waste paper is shredded to be reused as filling for their gift boxes and meal kits.

Many of the team are live locally and Bank House employ many local small craftsmen, tradesmen, suppliers and wine and spirit producers. Their produce, meat and vegetables to a large part is from Kent as well as a lot of fish from Rye and surrounding Kent areas…..

Bank House have a cycle to work scheme and where realistic encourage the team to walk or cycle to reduce carbon emissions.  Owner, Stuart Gilles also uses a scooter to reduce local traffic, carbon emissions and parking congestion.

Bank House Chislehurst is a wine bar serving natural and carefully hand-selected wines, creative classic cocktails and modern European small plates of artisan food, prepared daily by our talented in-house chefs.
