We are really excited to hear that Sainsbury’s in Chislehurst has been one of the stores picked for installing a defibrillator.
Local ‘celebrity’ and Chislehurst resident Sister Josephine Udie is the Vice Chair of the Patients Forum for the London Ambulance and has been instrumental in getting Sainsbury’s to agree to have defibrillators. Installation of defibrillators in supermarkets, chemists, GP surgeries and stations is saving hundreds of lives of people suffering cardiac arrest in a public places.
Sainsbury’s have committed to the national task of restarting the hearts of cardiac arrest patients, by installing 1,000 defibrillators in their stores across the country.
She met with Jon, our Retail Director, personally to discuss Sainsbury’s providing machines, so it is very fitting that her local Sainsbury’s here in Chislehurst was amongst the first to see one installed.
It was lovely to see Sister Jossi so very happy and receive a lovely hug from her in the process! John Woods, Store Manager Chislehurst Sainsbury’s commented “On behalf of Sainsburys I am delighted to say that we are amongst the first of many Sainsbury’s stores to have a defibrillator installed. Sister Jossi has campaigned for a while now to have one in our store and as you can see we were both delighted to see it on the premises today.
Merry Christmas everyone.”
