Michelle Sidwell Academy of Dance, who offer classes throughout the week at Chislehurst Methodist Church, had the priviledge of performing at The Videopolis Theatre in Disneyland Paris at the weekend.
Disney Performing Arts offer opportunities for dance schools to perform on the stage in the heart of Disneyland Paris. Having auditioned back in October, the local dance school were successful and began rehearsing for their 20 minute performance at The Videopolis Theatre in Discoveryland.
Owner Michelle Sidwell told Visit Chislehurst. “It gave our students the opportunity to perform in a working theatre alongside Disney professionals. We had boys and girls performing with the youngest being 8 yrs and the oldest 18. Our performance included a mixture of Commercial Jazz, Lyrical and Tap dancing with a varying range of music.”
Students also took part in a Disney workshop on the Sunday taken by a Disney leading cast member who taught them a routine and gave a Q&A explaining what it is like to be a Disney professional.
“I am extremely proud of the phenomenal performance that our Disney Troupe produced on Saturday 25th August. They have been rehearsing for 10 months on a weekly basis, and we produced 5 brand new routines featuring all 23 performers in all 5 routines. The pupils all worked together and became a real family.
Over 80 family members travelled with us to support the pupils and a fantastic time was had by all. It was a fantastic opportunity and we cant wait to possibly repeat it again one day in the future. ” Michelle Sidwell AISTD DDE, AIDTA (Bt, T, Mj)
